Janet Waugh was an involved parent when her children were in school, and remained active in educational issues after they had become adults.  She served roles in PTA at the local, count, and state level. She served on the Turner Board of Education for sixteen years and the Kansas State Board of Education for twenty-four years. She has received awards from many education groups for her dedication and service to public schools.
